OverviewMax Friedman is a Director in our Real Estate group. He brings to his practice extensive experience in complex real estate transactions, including development arrangements, public/private partnerships, construction and permanent financings, acquisitions and dispositions of real property and leasing.
Max's prior experience includes serving as Law Clerk to Honorable Irving R. Kaufman, Chief Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit (1977-1978) and Luce Scholar, Member of Law Faculty, National University of Singapore (1979-1980). Representative Experience
- Numerous public and private parties in connection with the negotiation of development arrangements, ground leases and severance leases for hotel, residential, office, retail and mixed-use developments.
- The New York City Economic Development Corporation in connection with the redevelopment of Times Square, the sale of the UN Plaza Hotel, the development of East River Science Park on the campus of Bellevue Hospital and the proposed redevelopment of Moynihan Station.
- Time Warner Inc. in connection with various aspects of the development of Time Warner Center.
- Representation of a money center bank in connection with construction financing for the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel, in downtown Brooklyn.
- Leading financial institutions in construction and permanent financings of hotel, office and mixed-use properties.
- A German life insurance company with respect to a $110M joint venture investment in a prominent New York office building.
- The YMCA of Greater New York in the development of facilities, bond financings and other real estate matters.
- A leading conservancy organization in connection with a landmark land acquisition transaction.
- The General Theological Seminary in connection with development at its Chelsea campus, including implementation of a geothermal heating and cooling system.
- A real estate investment fund in the acquisition and subsequent disposition of a 675,000 square foot office and trading facility.
