Legal Secretary - NY OfficeAssists attorneys and other legal or administrative personnel in our NY office of administrative and clerical work by performing the following duties. *Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, taking dictation, composing routine incoming mail, client billing, transcription and typing of documents.
- Responsible for Go To coverage needs for the day.
- Responsible for managing team’s workflow in a timely manner.
- Offers assistance to peers when possible and seeks assistance when necessary.
- Manages calendar and assists in meeting deadlines. Acting as liaison between attorney and clients as well as attorneys within the firm.
- Coordinates meetings and schedules.
- Files correspondence and legal documents in office filing system per Firm guidelines.
- Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
- General small office duties such as maintenance of supplies ,printer and copiers, conference rooms and common areas.
- Back up reception coverage

Education / Experience:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to compose simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the firm.
- Ability to add, subtract multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Demonstrates an ability to use Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to multitask.
