Goulston & Storrs New Co-Managing Director Barry Green Sets Pace for Continued Growth

April 7, 2015Press Releases

Newly-installed Co-Managing Director Barry Green, Director in the Real Estate practice, joins current Co-Managing Director Marty Fantozzi to lead Goulston & Storrs as it continues to deepen its roots in its real estate, mid-market corporate and corporate finance, and private client and trust practices. With these market-leading practices forming the core of the firm’s services, supported by a full suite of practice areas, Fantozzi and Green will help lead a talented team with a steady growth plan to build on the foundation developed over the last decade. Green replaces Douglas Husid, who has served in the Co-Managing Director capacity at the firm for the last 18 years and who will continue as a Director in the firm’s Real Estate practice.

Green has spent 25 years at the firm in the Real Estate practice handling complex real estate transactions, portfolio acquisitions and dispositions, and joint ventures representing institutions, foreign investors, REITs and developers. In addition, having served in nearly every leadership capacity in the firm from recruiting to compensation and other administrative roles, Green is uniquely suited to assume this visible position. Alongside Fantozzi, he plans to continue the firm’s growth in the New York and Washington, DC markets whose teams have both built strong foundations since the opening of the offices in 2003 and 2001, respectively, in addition to investing in the firm’s traditionally strong Boston roots.

“A decade ago, we made significant, strategic decisions to serve our clients from locations other than Boston, and under Doug’s leadership in particular that growth has gone tremendously well. As our offices in Washington and New York start to mature and establish their own roots in the industry, we’ll be raising our game even more,” said Green. “We’re competing in service markets with top-tier talent and in industries where the economic recovery presents enormous opportunity. To succeed for our clients in this environment, we need to attract and retain the best talent, and be flexible and nimble to move with our clients as they grow and evolve.”

Goulston & Storrs has made its mark in the real estate industry and is a proven leader in the field, having been ranked a leading real estate firm by industry publications such as Chambers USA and Law360 for the last several years. As the firm’s complementary practices have also grown, additional specialty areas such as Banking & Finance, Leisure & Hospitality, Litigation and Environmental Law have also been recognized.

“I’m proud of the work that we have done to build the firm over the last several years. We’ve grown the New York office significantly, attracting directors from top Am Law firms and prominent boutiques. Now our task is to build upon this strong foundation for our clients’ future needs, to anticipate where they expect to go and how we can help them get there,” Fantozzi said. “I’m excited to partner with Barry on this next phase of growth. He’s a talented leader and he brings tremendous energy to the table.”

Added Husid, “As I rotate out of the leadership role it provides me with an opportunity to reflect on the major growth initiatives we have pursued throughout the last decade. In 2015, we are in a stronger position to serve clients and to attract top-tier talent than we were a decade ago. I look forward to seeing what Barry and Marty will accomplish together.”

In addition to its leading practices, the firm concentrates efforts on developing specialty areas that will help clients navigate emerging challenges in their industries. The firm’s multi-disciplinary Climate Change & Resilience task force is one example, drawing on several practice areas in the firm.
