Washington, DC (April 25, 2011) Goulston & Storrs is pleased to announce the continued expansion of its Washington, DC office. Lee C. Carter and Yann H. H. van Geertruyden have joined the firm’s DC office as Directors, and Jamie Gross has joined as an associate. Since opening its DC office in 2001 to support its National Affordable Housing practice, Goulston & Storrs has broadened the firm’s office into a full service real estate practice through the acquisition of numerous partners from AmLaw 200 firms, including Shelly Wiesel, former Chair of the Real Estate Group from Shaw Pittman; Steve Schneider, a pre-eminent tax attorney; and Tim Watkins, the former general counsel of Penzance, a private equity real estate investment company that owns, develops and manages commercial real estate. Most recently, the office was bolstered by the arrival of the Land Use Group, including Maureen Dwyer, former Managing Partner of Pillsbury’s DC office.
Doug Husid, the firm’s co-managing director, commented that “Our goal since coming to Washington has been to create the District’s strongest and broadest real estate practice. The addition of Lee, Yann and Jamie is another major step in that effort. Over the last couple of years, we have accelerated our strategic growth in Washington. Once again, we have added lawyers with significant expertise and knowledge which will further benefit both our local and national clients across multiple offices.”
“We look forward to contributing to the growth of the Washington office and working with the outstanding clients and lawyers across the firm,” commented new Directors, Lee Carter and Yann van Geertruyden, “We are delighted to be joining a firm with such a stellar reputation and a deep historic commitment to real estate.” Lee and Yann added that Goulston’s stellar reputation, size, scope of services and experience were a great fit for their clients.
