Ned Abelson of Goulston & Storrs Awarded the 2011 NAIOP Government Affairs Award

December 2011
Practice: Environmental, Real Estate
Offices: Boston
People: Ned Abelson

Boston (December 8, 2011 )– Goulston & Storrs is proud to announce that Ned Abelson, Director, is being recognized by NAIOP Massachusetts, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, with its 2011 Government Affairs Award. The Award will be presented in recognition of Abelson’s leadership and tireless efforts to advance the redevelopment of Brownfields in Massachusetts at NAIOP’s Annual Meeting on December 15, 2011.

“Ned is a true advocate for policies that promote the efficient cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated sites,” said David Begelfer, CEO of NAIOP. “As co-chair of NAIOP’s Hazardous Waste Committee, Ned worked tirelessly this year with committee members to oppose DEP’s problematic policy on vapor intrusion. The draft policy would have jeopardized the redevelopment of many contaminated sites throughout the Commonwealth. Thanks to Ned’s ongoing commitment to this issue and the committee’s advocacy on behalf of the commercial real estate industry, DEP agreed to reexamine this policy. NAIOP is proud to honor Ned with this special award.”

Managing Director, Doug Husid, comments upon the news, “the firm is so happy to see Ned recognized for his work on behalf of NAIOP. He is a truly committed individual with respect to NAIOP and its advocacy efforts.”
