As a Director in the firm's Tax group, Gerret Baur focuses his practice on US and international tax matters with an emphasis on tax issues arising in mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and investment funds. In addition to providing sophisticated tax advice in support of business and investment transactions, Gerret is able to leverage his prior experience as an in-house tax advisor in order to offer practical advice with respect to otherwise complex tax matters. He has represented strategic and private equity clients in merger and acquisition transactions, including tax-free reorganizations, spin-offs, taxable asset and stock deals, and internal restructurings related to acquisition transactions. In addition, he has advised issuers and underwritters on securities offerings, including issuances of high-yield debt, perpetual debt, common stock and preferred stock.
Prior to joining Goulston & Storrs, Gerret was Director, Global Tax Planning of an international medical device company. Gerret oversaw strategic merger and acquisition related planning, including US and international planning associated with the integration of acquired businesses. Gerret was also responsible for Israel local country tax planning, compliance, controversy and operational support. Prior to that, Gerret was an associate at an Am Law top 20 law firm.
