OverviewReal estate development and joint ventures, including public-private partnership transactions are the focus of Yann van Geertruyden's practice. Yann works with developers in connection with a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, development (residential, mixed-use, retail and office), construction, leasing (ground, retail, office and residential) and finance. Yann has counseled developers in more than $4 billion of real estate joint venture transactions between the United States Government and private developers, including privatization of more than 40,000 housing units, as well as the ongoing development, leasing, construction, financing and operation of these portfolios.
Prior to joining the firm, Yann served as a legislative assistant to U.S. Senator Connie Mack, handling issues related to defense, transportation, international trade and governmental affairs. Yann is a Director in the Real Estate group at Goulston & Storrs. Representative Experience
- Counsel to a public-private joint-venture in the acquisition, leasing, development, construction, financing and operation of a residential housing portfolio, including the issuance of approximately $1.1 Billion of taxable bonds over the course of seven phases of development.
- Counsel to a public-private joint-venture in the acquisition, leasing, development, construction, financing and operation of a residential housing portfolio, including the negotiation of two fifty-year ground leases, the issuance of approximately $1 Billion of taxable bonds and the formation of three subsidiaries.
- Counsel to a public-private joint-venture in the acquisition, leasing, development, construction, financing and operation of a residential housing portfolio in the Mid-Atlantic region, including the issuance of approximately $500 Million of taxable bonds.
- Counsel to a public-private joint-venture in the leasing, development, construction and operation of a residential housing portfolio in the Southeast region.
- Representation of developers in negotiations with local governments on public-private development transactions.
