The Obama Administration is working to promote innovation-driven job growth and urban economic revitalization as the Department of Homeland Security creates its new headquarters campus at the St. Elizabeths site.  Dr. Christina Gabriel and Bomani Howze of Carnegie Mellon University have been asked to advise and guide this federal process in collaboration with other governments, business and community groups throughout the region.  The federal goal is to support a community-led process to attract private-sector development and strengthen local business support networks, creating economic opportunity for the residents of East of the River communities without forcing their physical or economic displacement.
