SPEAKERS BIOS

 Zev Gewurz, Director, Goulston & Storrs

Portfolio acquisitions and dispositions, joint venture structuring, complex financings, mezzanine and participating debt transactions and distressed debt workout and sales are at the heart of Zev Gewurz’s practice. Zev has a broad-based practice representing institutional and private equity lenders, foreign and US-based investors, as well as owners and developers across the United States and abroad. Zev is co-chair of the firm’s International Investors Group and is a Director in the Real Estate Group.


Yaacov Gross, Director, Goulston & Storrs

Equity finance, including the formation of public and private investment and operating entities, capital formation transactions (public offerings and private placements of securities, joint venture transactions, private equity and venture capital investments), mergers and acquisitions, financings and the development of financial products are all a part of Yaacov Gross’ broad practice. Yaacov is a co-Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Capital Markets group.

Yaacov works extensively with REITs and other real estate entities, including lodging and gaming companies, private equity and hedge funds and institutional investors in real estate.


 David Lazarus, Managing Director, Eastdil Secured

David S. Lazarus is a Managing Director at Eastdil Secured and is co-head of the firm’s New York office. In that role, Mr. Lazarus leads the Firm’s activities in the New York market including working with public and private real estate companies on investment sales, capital raising and co-founded and strategic activities. Prior to joining Eastdil Secured in 2011, Mr. Lazarus boutique real estate investment bank focused on advisory activities. EdgeRock specialized in advising private companies on equity capital alternatives including the IPO process. Mr. Lazarus spent 13 years as a Managing Director in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at Lehman Brothers, which was acquired by Barclays Capital in 2008. At Lehman/Barclays, Mr. Lazarus was involved in over $50 billion of real estate transactions across a wide range of products and sectors. From 1994 to 1996, Mr. Lazarus worked at the Yarmouth Group, a real estate advisor, as a capital transaction associate. Prior to that, Mr. Lazarus worked as a CPA at KPMG. Mr. Lazarus graduated with honors from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1993.


Ian Marcus,  Senior Advisor, Eastdil Secured

Ian graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1981 with a degree in Land Economy. Ian was in the banking industry for over 32 years having previously worked for Bank of America, UBS, NatWest and Bankers Trust/Deutsche, always focusing on the real estate industry. Ian joined Credit Suisse First Boston in 1999 to establish the Real Estate Group, and became Managing Director and Chairman of the European Real Estate Investment Banking.

Ian is a Trustee of the Prince’s Foundation, a Crown Estate Commissioner, a member of Redevco’s Advisory Board, the Senior Independent Director for Secure Income REIT and a Non Executive Director for Town Centre Securities Plc. He was appointed as a Senior Consultant to Eastdil Secured and Wells Fargo Securities in 2013. He is also a Senior Advisor to the two new Businesses, Work Life and Elysian Residences. Ian is also a past President of the British Property Federation, past Chairman of the Investment Property Forum and for 10 years chaired the Bank of England Commercial Property Forum.


 Mitch Roschelle, Partner, PwC

Mitch is a Partner at PwC, and currently serves as one of the firm’s Business Development Leaders. He was a founder of PwC’s Real Estate Advisory practice, and has over 30 years of experience serving a wide array of real estate investors, foreign and domestic. Mitch is a widely-recognized commentator on real estate, housing, business trends, capital markets, the retail industry and the economy. He is a frequent public speaker, and a regular guest and on Fox Business Network, Bloomberg TV and Radio, and Yahoo Finance. He is the co-publisher of Emerging Trends in Real Estate, a widely-circulated global annual market forecast.


 Isabelle Scemama, CEO, AXA Investment Managers - Real Assets

Isabelle Scemama is Chief Executive Officer of AXA IM - Real Assets and chairs the Management Board and the Executive Committee. Her responsibilities include the definition of AXA IM - Real Assets’ strategy and its day-to-day management. Isabelle joined AXA IM - Real Assets in 2001 to head real estate fund structuring and financing. In 2005, she launched the CRE Loans platform which currently manages mandates on behalf of more than 40 institutions from 10 different jurisdictions. In 2013, she was appointed to launch the Infrastructure lending platform, an initiative managed on behalf of the AXA Group that aims to invest up to €10 billion in infrastructure loans. Most recently, Isabelle was responsible for the Funds Group. Isabelle started her career in 1989 at Paribas in the large cap corporate financing department. In 1995, she joined the real estate financing department where she was responsible for the financing of investors. She has 25 years of experience in financing, including 19 years in real estate finance. Isabelle graduated from IEP Paris (Sciences Po) with a degree in Political Science in 1989.
