Landmark Decisions: The Defining Cases You Need to Know
Thursday, October 24, 8:00 am - 9:00 am

Derek Domian joins Jesse Schneider of Davis & Gilbert LLP, and Neva Wagner, Perkins Coie LLP, for a seminar exploring the pantheon of cases that shaped leasing law as we know it. From the enforceability of operating covenants to the scope of lease restrictions to free speech on private property to the rule of independent covenants, the foundation of what we do owes to landmark decisions that all practitioners need to know. Litigators will want to know the decisions that determine outcomes and transactional lawyers will want to know the rules that determine how key lease provisions will be construed and applied.

Surrender of Premises: Surrender, Surrender, but Don’t Give Yourself Away
Thursday October 24, 2024, 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Jennifer Jones engages in a peer-to-peer conversation alongside Amy Altschuler of Lewis Roca to address issues that arise when tenants surrender the premises, either at the end of the term or earlier expiration. The hypotheticals will cover issues ranging from de-branding to removal of specialized equipment, as well as concerns relating to medical records and repair requirements. We will discuss creative ways to find the balance between landlord’s surrender requirements and tenant’s desire not to give it all away.
