In-Person: Goulston & Storrs (1 Post Office Square, Boston, MA 02109)

Virtual: Zoom details are provided upon registration

Please join G&S attorney and STEP New England co-chair, Rebecca Tunney, alongside Claire Harris and Sandy Christopher of Withersworldwide, for an overview of the new UK tax rules slated for announcement on October 30, and a discussion on how the changes will impact US persons with connections to the UK.

In particular, Claire and Sandy will focus on the impact the new rules will have on the common use of foreign grantor trusts as 'excluded property trusts' for inheritance tax planning and the role that double tax treaties and reliefs will have going forward in terms of mitigating the impact of the two countries' tax regimes on people, trusts, and investments. They will also examine the concepts of residence and domicile in both jurisdictions and how the new UK rules could produce winners, as well as losers.
