Esports Influence Continues to Grow

The recent announcement that Simon Property Group, the largest mall owner in the U.S., has agreed to pay $5 million for a minority stake in esports arena operator Allied Esports is interesting from a number of perspectives.  Electronic media, which has been a major cause of disruption for retail operators, is now being called to help rescue the bleak retail situation as owners look to esports to help drive foot traffic to malls.  Esports is itself being increasingly brought into the brick and mortar world as the demand for better playing and viewing venues continue to expand with no end in sight.
