Claim Your Space: Defining & Taking Control of Your Career on Your Own Terms
Counsel Jaclyn Grodin moderated the Goulston & Storrs THISGEN® event, "Claim Your Space," a panel discussion which focused on how women in the early, mid, and transitional stages of their careers can take control and plant the seeds for future success.
Read Jaclyn's perspectives on what it means to truly support and listen to women, and how we can integrate their messages throughout the broader conversation to enact change when speaking about women in the law.
About the Event:
Ever feel like you’re the only one who isn’t hitting your professional stride? As if you’ve been preparing for most of your life to arrive at your professional peak and, yet, are somehow left unprepared to thrive in your career as you finally reach the "most fulfilling" stage? The truth is, the legal profession and many others are not one-size-fits-all environments and the path to success and satisfaction varies for everyone. Diversifying our understanding of what options our professions can provide at various stages of our careers can make all the difference. Stop watching and waiting, and start claiming your space.
Panel discussion topics will include:
- Growing and structuring your career to allow it to evolve over time.
- Developing your network – is this intentional, luck, or a bit of both?
- Dealing with difficult colleagues – men and women, peers and partners – and managing upward.
- Incorporating personal goals with professional development.
- Navigating imposter syndrome and understanding that you do deserve to be here.
