Goulston & Storrs, an Am Law 200 firm, has elevated James Shipe, an attorney in the firm’s Real Estate Group, to a shareholder of the firm effective April 1. He will continue to represent commercial and nonprofit clients in the acquisition, development, financing, restructuring, sale, and leasing of real estate projects.

Shipe’s expertise includes single asset and large portfolio transactions for office, mixed-use and multifamily properties. Before becoming a lawyer, he worked as a structural engineer at URS Corporation in Washington D.C., where he handled high-profile government projects. His structural engineering background now informs the strategic counsel he provides to real estate clients.

Outside of the office, Shipe is a member of the board of directors for Kid Power, Inc., a nonprofit that promotes academic advancement, physical and emotional wellness, and positive civic engagement in underserved public schools in Washington D.C. Shipe received his J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2007, and his M.A.E. in 2002 and B.A.E., summa cum laude, in 2002, both in architectural engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
