BOSTON (Mar. 29, 2021) – Goulston & Storrs, an Am Law 200 firm, is pleased to announce that Marianne Monagle, Senior Director of Human Resources, has received the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly 2021 “Excellence in Firm Administrations/Operations” award, which celebrates high achieving professionals in the Massachusetts legal community. Monagle was one of just two administrations/operations professionals chosen for the 2021 recognition.

Monagle has served as Goulston & Storrs’ Human Resources leader for over 25 years and is responsible for driving the firm’s HR strategy, executive coaching, succession planning, employee engagement and space planning. She is a leader in maintaining the unique culture of the firm. She also oversees the benefits programs, which support and facilitate the successful integration and retention of everyone in the firm.

Monagle is a key member of the firm’s executive team and is known for her ability to bring people together around the firm’s core principles of collaboration, communication, and collegiality. She has achieved many successes over the years including transforming the firm’s legal administrative assistant function to create a model for the industry. Goulston & Storrs now has one of the highest attorney to assistant ratios in the country with six attorneys to one assistant. She also played an ongoing role in creating and fostering Goulston & Storrs’ continuous learning culture including collaborating with her team to launch the firm’s Leadership Academy which then led to the creation of a Senior Management Think Tank team.

Two years ago, Monagle developed a program called Goulston Giving, which created opportunities for all of the firm’s staff to get involved as hands-on volunteers with the firm’s many pro bono clients. The new program not only offers more support to the firm’s pro bono partners but gives attorneys and staff a more personal way to make a difference.

Monagle is a member of the Association of Legal Human Resource Managers and previously served as the organization’s president. She is also a member of the Association of Legal Administrators, the Society of Human Resource Management, and the Business Continuity Legal Forum. She received her B.A. from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
