Biography
Overview
Michael Helweil is a real estate finance attorney who represents lenders including debt fund platforms and financial institutions of all sizes in connection with the origination, syndication, purchase and sale of commercial real estate loans. He also represents borrowers in obtaining financing for commercial real estate projects.
Michael drafts and negotiates all types of real estate loan documents. In his work with financial institutions and debt fund platforms, Michael handles construction, mezzanine and permanent financing as well as intercreditor agreements and documentation associated with repurchase and warehouse credit facilities. He also counsels clients in connection with loan workouts and distressed loans.
Before joining Goulston & Storrs, Michael was a Real Estate Associate at a top Am Law 200 law firm, representing a broad range of clients including developers, capital management firms, financial institutions, and owners of institutional, retail, commercial, multifamily, and mixed-use properties.
