June 23, 2020Press Releases

Goulston & Storrs, an Am Law 200 firm, is pleased to announce that director Matt Epstein has received a 2020 Community Social Capitalist Award from Social Capital Inc. (SCI). Epstein was one of five leaders who was honored as a Community Social Capitalist for his volunteer work strengthening communities through civic engagement.

Two SCI Idealists awards were also given out at the organization’s virtual event on June 11.

Epstein is well-known commercial real estate lawyer who has devoted his time, energy and passion to numerous organizations in the Boston community over many years. He has been a board member of Horizons for Homeless Children for 29 years, including serving for seven years as Board Chair. He has been a Trustee (now Trustee Emeritus) of Beth Israel Hospital – an organization that Goulston & Storrs has had a 60-year relationship with – for more than 10 years and served as Chair of the hospital’s Community Benefits Committee for four years.

As a board member of the Institute for Nonprofit Management and as Board Chair of Common Purpose US, Epstein shares his leadership expertise and training skills. He also serves on the advisory board of Facing History and Ourselves, a nonprofit organization founded in Boston which develops school curricula based on historical and current events designed to encourage tolerance and empathy.

We are so proud of Matt receiving this award. No one deserves it more. He cares deeply about his community and puts his tremendous knowledge, strength and resources to bear to help others and to make the world a better place. We, along with all the organizations he has dedicated himself to, are fortunate to have him on our team,” said Bill Dillon, Co-Managing Director at Goulston & Storrs.

Goulston & Storrs doesn’t just tolerate pro bono legal work and community engagement, the firm expects that its lawyers and staff will give back,” added Epstein. Our managing partners — Bill Dillon and Marty Fantozzi — set the tone by recognizing and taking great pride in the firm’s historical commitment to the community. I’m so fortunate to have such support.”
