Goulston & Storrs Names William Dillon as New Co-Managing Director

October 18, 2018Press Releases

BOSTON (October 18, 2018) – Goulston & Storrs today announced that William “Bill” Dillon, one of the nation’s leading real estate lawyers, has been named Co-Managing Director of the firm. Dillon will lead the firm with Martin M. Fantozzi, who has served as Co-Managing Director since 2009.

Dillon assumes the role from predecessor Barry Green, who has joined one of Goulston & Storrs’ key clients. Green now oversees U.S. operations for Lighthouse Real Estate Investments LLC, further strengthening the firm’s relationship with the diversified commercial real estate investment community.

Dillon has held numerous management positions at Goulston & Storrs. He previously served as co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Group and co-chair of its Retail, Restaurant & Consumer Industry Group. He has also co-chaired the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, which has sought to build upon the firm’s long tradition of pro bono and community service and to create new innovations for law firms, including models for establishing pro bono partnerships with clients. Dillon currently serves as co-chair of the firm’s Inclusion Advisory Committee, which focuses on advancing diversity and inclusion internally and within client service-focused efforts, and will continue in this role.

“Bill was long ago designated by the partnership as eventual successor to the co-managing director role, and he is perfectly suited for it. He has displayed strong leadership skills within the firm, and he is widely respected by his colleagues, peers, and clients,” said Martin M. Fantozzi, Co-Managing Director of Goulston & Storrs. “We are delighted for Barry, and are not surprised that he was selected for an executive position at a respected and innovative foreign investor. He will continue to act as a great ambassador for our firm.”

Fantozzi noted that the firm has experienced substantial growth in its New York and Washington, D.C. offices while continuing to build on its traditionally strong Boston roots. “I am thrilled to be working with Bill to lead the firm in our next phase of growth, making clients in all of our markets aware of our increasingly deep capabilities in areas such as corporate M&A, banking and finance, tax matters, employment law, environmental matters, family office services, bankruptcy, and litigation,” added Fantozzi.

“I am excited about this opportunity,” said Dillon. “I look forward to continuing to build the firm’s service capabilities to meet the growing needs of our clients, and to continuing our successful efforts to attract and retain top tier talent.” Dillon also emphasized that the firm is very focused on growing its corporate and litigation practices, and expanding its presence in the NY and D.C. metro areas while maintaining its strong presence and steady growth in its well-established real estate and private wealth practices.

Dillon joined Goulston & Storrs as an associate in 1998. He has been actively involved in the Diversity Lab’s annual Diversity in Law Hackathon Series to pursue and implement solutions to improve diversity in law firms. Dillon also currently serves on the Board of Directors of Project Place, Social Capital, Inc., and Greater Boston Legal Services, and is actively involved in the Boston chapter of the Urban Land Institute. Dillon received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Harvard College in 1991, and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1995.

Goulston & Storrs has approximately 200 lawyers working in Boston, New York, and Washington D.C. The firm has been listed on BTI’s “A-team” for client service, and it has been recognized for excellence by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America and other legal ranking publications. Goulston & Storrs has one of the largest, most diverse and highly acclaimed Real Estate practices in the country, and it also provides leading-edge representation in matters involving bankruptcy, corporate, employment, financial services, intellectual property, tax, estates and wealth management.
