2018 Holiday Sales

We hope everyone had a terrific holiday season and the new year is off to a great start!

In our first post for the year, we wanted to share some terrific insights on 2018 holiday sales analytics from Retail Dive’s Kaarin Vembar.

U.S. holiday sales grew 5.1% this year to more than $850 billion, making it the best season in the last six years, according to Mastercard data, which tracks retail spending across all payment types. Online sales jumped 19.1% year-over-year. Big category winners of the season included apparel, home improvement and clothing.

Look more closely at the data, as Retail Dive does in the article linked above, and you’ll find Omnichannel, BOPIS (buy online, pick up in store) and mobile devices at the forefront of not only holiday sales trends, but also the future of the retail industry.
