Biography

Overview

Martin Edel is Co-Chair of Goulston & Storrs Sports Law Practice. Under his leadership, the Sports Law Practice annually has been recognized as one of the best in the United States. Marty also teaches Sports Law at Columbia Law School and Antitrust law at Brooklyn Law School. 

In Sports, Marty is a recognized leader. Colleges and universities, teams and leagues regularly seek Marty’s advice. At its annual 2018 and 2019 Sports Luncheon, Bloomberg honored Marty as one of 30 high profile executives in the sports industry. Marty also has been recognized as a Superlawyer® in the field of Sports and Entertainment from 2013-present.  In addition, Marty is a highly sought-after speaker on sports issues, appearing in the documentary “After Jackie” on the History Channel, and speaking frequently on the weekly podcast, “Bloomberg Business of Sports,” as well as in numerous webinars. Marty also has written on sports issues, including NIL, gambling, gender equity, discrimination, antitrust and labor issues.  Marty has been quoted in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Sportico, and other publications. 

Marty is a litigator and advisor to companies. Marty advises and represents companies, boards and C-Suite officers on employment, antitrust, licensing matters and disputes, intellectual property matters and other contractual disputes. Marty has successfully tried and arbitrated dozens of cases. Companies and senior executives seek out Marty’s advice and litigation skills on complex matters.
