Corporate Bankruptcy & Restructuring
The Goulston & Storrs Bankruptcy & Restructuring Group is recognized nationally and regionally for guiding clients through complex corporate restructurings and insolvency matters. Chambers describes the team as “a strong team [with] a substantial and broad-based practice representing debtors and lenders."
Representing corporate and commercial real estate debtors, borrowers, secured and unsecured lenders, private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, investors, purchasers, landlords, liquidators, creditors’ committees, and court-appointed trustees in state and federal court nationwide, our attorneys handle every stage of a restructuring or bankruptcy matter, from advice regarding distressed situations and pre-bankruptcy planning to Chapter 11 filings, out-of-court workouts, asset sales, recapitalizations, and related litigation.
We regularly represent lenders, borrowers, private equity sponsors, and buyers in a wide range of distressed matters, including in-court and out-of-court debt and equity restructurings of troubled companies, UCC Article 9 foreclosures, consensual exits, Chapter 11 plan sponsorships, enforcement of lender remedies against pledged equity, liability management exercises, and distressed dispositions and acquisitions through bankruptcy section 363 sales.
Drawing on colleagues in corporate finance, M&A, tax, real estate, and litigation, we deliver integrated, practical solutions that protect value, stabilize operations, and advance clients’ broader business goals. Clients value our results-oriented approach, partner-level responsiveness, and efficient, cost-conscious service model. Through decades of experience, we have developed an extensive network of restructuring professionals, including financial advisors, investment bankers, turnaround consultants, and other law firms, which we also leverage on behalf of our clients.
Advocates on our service team include two Fellows of the American College of Bankruptcy, Chambers band-one rated lawyers, former clerks to U.S. bankruptcy court judges, and active lecturers and speakers on bankruptcy topics at conferences sponsored by American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ), and Turnaround Management Association (TMA). Some of our lawyers are also past or present leaders in the Turnaround Management Association.
