Christine Roddy counsels clients as they develop mixed-use, office, retail, institutional, industrial and residential projects. Focusing on zoning and land use, historic preservation, municipal law and urban renewal in the District of Columbia, Christine advises developers, colleges and universities, private schools, institutional and non-profit organizations, as well as foreign governments.
Applying expansive experience and using resourceful approaches, Christine successfully represents clients before the D.C. Council, the Zoning Commission, the Board of Zoning Adjustment, the Historic Preservation Review Board, the Mayor’s Agent for Historic Preservation, the National Capital Planning Commission, Commission of Fine Arts and other district and federal agencies involved in land use matters.

Capital City Real Estate for a 180-unit LEED Gold residential building at 777 17th Street NE. Representation included securing Planned Unit Development approval, with commitments to affordable housing and substantial public space improvements that required balancing regulatory priorities with community expectations.
JBG Smith, in partnership with Gallaudet University, for advanced entitlements for four parcels totaling more than six acres in the Union Market district. Work included securing a First-Stage Planned Unit Development covering 1.5 million square feet of development rights, with approvals for 1,800 residential units, 135,000 square feet of retail, and 60,000 square feet of office use.
MRP Realty for land use and zoning entitlements for a 13-acre site adjacent to the Rhode Island Avenue Metrorail Station. Representation included navigating large tract development review with the Office of Planning to enable approximately 1,500 residential units and 250,000 square feet of retail space, addressing complex transit-oriented development considerations.
The ownership entity of the former Coast Guard headquarters for entitlements to convert the property into a mixed-use residential project with ground-floor retail. Representation culminated in a public hearing before the Zoning Commission, where approval was secured for the design review application, enabling the adaptive reuse of a landmark federal building.
