Old Saint John’s hospital in Queens, New York that was riddled with construction defects against claims by the seller for nonpayment. Our team obtained an order staying enforcement of confessions of judgment based on proof that they were obtained by fraud. The action was ultimately settled to the client’s satisfaction.
Defeated an attempt to preliminarily enjoin a $3.5 billion merger of our client Sogou Inc. with an indirect subsidiary of Tencent Holdings Limited, whereby Sogou became a privately-held indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Tencent.
Defended and resolved $100 Million client lawsuit against global AmLaw 100 firm for tax and estate planning malpractice.
Private entities and a public company in pursuing “baby RICO” and other claims in the U.S. Virgin Islands related to investment managers’ unlawful efforts to drive several mortgage servicing-related companies out of business.
A former CEO of Flagstar Bank in pursuing claims for approximately $16 million in unpaid compensation in violation of ERISA and operative agreements. Successfully defeated defendant’s motion to dismiss. See Campanelli v. Flagstar Bancorp, Inc., 2020 WL 5350245 (S.D.N.Y. Sept. 4, 2020).
