Clients from diverse family structures, including non-traditional families and same-sex couples, trust Kerry's personalized guidance for succession planning and wealth transfer. They count on her to minimize transfer taxes and probate, optimize income tax planning in combination with wealth transfer, create charitable legacies through private foundations and other means, and administer estates and trusts. They also rely on her to serve as a professional trustee and to advise both family and professional trustees.
A leader for her peers, Kerry serves as co-chair of the firm's Private Client & Trust Group.
Applying personal experience in philanthropy
Before practicing law, Kerry worked for more than a decade in philanthropy and the nonprofit cultural sector. She spent much of that time as an Arts & Culture Program Officer at The Heinz Endowments, where she worked to distribute hundreds of millions in grants. During that period, she focused on special project grant making to small- and mid-sized arts organizations, general operating support grants to large arts institutions, grants for arts-based community and afterschool programs, and grants in support of individual artists.
