With extensive experience working with both tenants and landlords in the retail industry, Marilyn is an important part of the firm's retail leasing team. She assists with lease negotiations, amendments, and lease administration for the firm’s retail clients across multiple property types. With nearly three decades of experience managing retail lease portfolios and collaborating with teams of outside counsel, she efficiently handles lease documentation, including reviewing and negotiating lease terms, preparing amendments, coordinating SNDAs and estoppel certificates, and ensuring compliance with co-tenancy provisions, construction requirements, and option and termination rights. She works closely with clients, outside counsel, real estate brokers, and internal teams to ensure lease documents accurately reflect deal terms, protect client interests, and meet the needs of all parties.
Prior to joining the firm, Marilyn served as Director of Leasing Services at J.Crew Group, where she was responsible for all lease negotiations across J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, and Madewell brands with major national developers including Simon, General Growth, Westfield, Taubman, and Macerich, as well as regional and one-off developers. She previously held paralegal roles at the retailer New York & Company and at The Shopco Group, where she negotiated leases on behalf of landlords for enclosed regional shopping centers. She brings this comprehensive perspective to her work with the firm's lawyers, developers, and retailers.
