Attorney Carla Reeves will join The Boston Foundation for a discussion around affirmative action.

The Supreme Court’s recent ruling effectively ending affirmative action in college admissions has rippled across sectors, prompting nonprofit, corporate and government leaders to examine potential impacts on their constituents, employees, programming, and missions. While the implications, largely driven by the misuse and weaponization of this ruling, are not yet fully known, the nonprofit sector and its allies face a pivotal moment and opportunity to come together to continue to advance commitments to building a more just and equitable society.

Nonprofit leaders, people and culture managers, board members, donors, funders, and consultants are invited to join the Boston Foundation on Wednesday, October 11 at 9:00 a.m. for an introductory discussion to explore the evolving implications of the U.S. Supreme Court's recent affirmative action ruling on the nonprofit sector. Beyond beginning to unpack the new legal landscape, what does it look like for the sector, its people, and the constituents it serves to thrive in this new context? From inclusive hiring practices to equitable programming, to DEI and racial equity work, and more, how can nonprofits, and those who support and sustain their critical missions, stand in awareness, action, and power to continue to build toward equitable systems and outcomes?

This conversation is envisioned as a first step, to surface shared questions and inform the development of additional conversations, tools, and resources for the months and years ahead. Nonprofit participation in this event will aid the sector in understanding what you would find most helpful moving forward.
