Sports Law Practice

Martin Edel chairs Goulston & Storrs’ College Sports Law Practice. Marty is recognized as a leader in the sports law field. He is an Adjunct Instructor at Law at Columbia Law School, where he teaches Sports and the Law. Marty also is an Adjunct Law Professor at the Brooklyn Law School, where he teaches classes in Sports Law and in Antitrust. Marty has been honored by BloombergSports® at its annual 2018 and 2019 Sports Luncheon for 30 high profile executives in the sports industry. Marty also has been recognized as a SuperLawyer® in the field of Sports and Entertainment in 2010-2011 and 2013-2020.  Marty is the former Chair of the Sports Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association.

In Marty’s litigation and advisory practice, he advises and represents leagues, teams, media companies and individuals in licensing matters and disputes, intellectual property matters, employment, antitrust and other complex contractual disputes. His principal focus has been in the sports, media and financial institutions industries.

A sought-out speaker, Marty has spoken at numerous sports law conferences. Additionally, Marty has been quoted by the Wall Street Journal, Global Competition Review, The New Republic and other publications on sports law.

Marty holds a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA from Columbia.
